The olive tree we made for Elie Saab
We built the olive tree for Elie Saab’s Beirut home, which appears in Architectural Digest Middle East’s Style Issue, on the cover. We also made the signage for his headquarters.
It was made the same way as every tree on this page: in our own workshop in Jdeideh, on a preserved natural trunk, built to the height and canopy the room called for. Nothing about the process was different because of whose house it was going into — which is the point worth making. The same workshop, the same trunks and the same people build the tree you order.
Frequently asked questions
Do your artificial olive trees use real trunks?
Yes. We work with preserved natural olive trunks, which is why the gnarled bark and the irregular lean read as real at arm’s length. The leaves and any fruit are artificial.
Can an artificial olive tree live outdoors in Lebanon?
With anti-UV foliage, yes. Ask for the outdoor specification and mention whether the spot takes full afternoon sun or coastal wind so we build the base and foliage for it.
What sizes do you make?
From small tabletop pieces to multi-metre trees for atriums and courtyards. Because the tree is built in our own workshop, the height and canopy are set by your space rather than by a catalogue.
Does an artificial olive tree need maintenance?
Only dusting. Wipe the leaves with a soft dry cloth or use a low-pressure air blower every few weeks. No watering, no light, no pruning, no leaf drop.
